Kusan City of Wolves tells you the rule in plain language: only the deadliest moves and cleanest executions earn the highest score. Go fast. Hit hard. Don’t miss. S-Rank is the perfectionist layer on top of survival. Across 54 hand-crafted stages, ranks separate players who finished a room from players who owned it.

1. Speed without panic

Fast clears score better when they stay controlled. Speed that creates leftover shooters is fake speed—you will lose time (and lives) cleaning messes. True speed is a rehearsed clear order executed without hesitation.

2. Precision

Missed shots, wrong-target Quantum Knife throws, and whiffed War Hand smashes destroy style tempo. Precision is choosing the correct tool for the correct body at the correct facing.

3. Clean exits

An S-Rank attempt dies when you leave one gunner alive behind a prop while you sprint to the exit. Clear fully, then leave. “Almost done” is where one-hit death loves to appear.

Style as a system, not a vibe

Stylish play feeds Bolts and ranks together. Chain kills, parries, and finishers so the room never resets to a fair gunfight. The same flow that fills your Bolts wallet is the flow that impresses the rank formula.

Practical style rules:

• Open with a Quantum Knife throw that deletes the true priority—see Quantum Knife.
• Convert immediately with War Hand or firearm pressure—see War Hand and Bolts.
• Parry when telegraphs are readable; do not force parries into bullet hell.
• Smash on-path props for Bolts without leaving live threats at your back.

1. Play a stage for a clean survival clear.
2. Note the death cause if you wipe.

6. Rotate stubborn stages instead of grinding one room into tilt.

Route planning for ranks

Every S-Rank candidate needs a written (or mental) route:

• Entry facing for the first Quantum Knife target.
• Smash order for Bolts and lane creation.

• Boss punish plan if the stage ends in a kingpin fight.
• Exit path that does not re-expose you to spawn leftovers.

If your route depends on luck, it is not an S-Rank route yet. Rehearse until the first five seconds look identical across attempts.

Bolts spending during rank attempts

Upgrade time is still rank time. Hesitating in a shop loses seconds; skipping a needed upgrade loses lives. Pre-decide spends for known stages. In the demo, practice buying without breaking movement rhythm so launch-day chapters feel automatic.

Spending guideline for ranks:

• Buy the upgrade that protects your route’s weakest fight.
• Avoid experimental unlocks mid-PB attempt.
• If a purchase animation or menu flow feels slow on your platform, practice the inputs until they are muscle memory.

Boss ranks and pattern honesty

Boss stages punish greed harder than trash rooms. An S-Rank boss clear usually means:

• Add control with Quantum Knife before greedy boss damage.
• Punish only on confirmed windows.
• Keep War Hand smashes for real openings, not wishful ones.
• Accept a slightly slower safe cycle over a spectacular death.
